Caroline Hurley grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to the North East to attend the Rhode Island School of Design. As a painter, her linen throws serve as a way to flesh out what she puts on her canvas. Her practice of painting and design is about making the mundane beautiful. There is a playful quality to her work, and she enjoys letting the unexpected and silly side of life come to the surface. While she sticks to oils for her paintings, she likes to use non-typical materials for her products. She received an excellence grant from Brown University and was an artist in residence at The New Museum.
