Objets Mecaniques by Tracey George Posted on July 02, '13

Based in Montreal, Objets Mécaniques is a slow design “laboratory” whose mission is to design handmade everyday objects. These objects are made useful as they fulfil basic needs and actively contribute to a domestic space’s physical and psychological ergonomics.

Their goods are carefully handmade in the Objets Mécaniques workshop or in the workshop of local artisans. Goods are produced in small series of unique pieces. Usually made from local and reclaimed materials, they are the result of a love for handcrafted objects, beautiful wood and tools.

Each object aims to celebrate the charm of tiny flaws, which are inherent to craftwork, such as a remarkably weird wood grain or subtle scars left by the work of time on old materials. Therefore, each object is born with particular features that make it unique, not always perfect, but definitely authentic.
