Sasha Kretova by Tracey George Posted on July 02, '13

Finnish artisan Sasha Kretova has always been fascinated by things you can make from paper. She works in a printing house where the tactile nature of paper satisfies the sense of touch. She is a big fan of notebooks, journals, planners and all things you can write in, keeping separate notebooks for everything: shop ideas, sketches, lists, daily plans and song lyrics.

When Sasha made her first notebook, she realized that handmade stationery is something that reflects her personality better than anything else. This passion and dedication is evident in the meticulous craftsmanship of her paper goods.

Inspired by minimalist design, simple patterns and geometric shapes, Sasha enjoys working with recycled or reused materials with the thought of giving a new life to something that would otherwise be thrown away. Most of her notebooks are made with left-over paper from the printing house.

"When I create my designs I always think of people who might use my products. I hope my paper goods can inspire and bring joy into the process of creating."
